Who is a Internal Auditor?

An Internal Auditor is a trained auditor responsible for carrying out self-verification audits internally to make sure the system requirements are consistently adhered and met. Most of the companies train a selected few of its own employees to make them competent for carrying out internal checks at regular periods, but few companies also seek the help of a external service providers to meet this requirement.

 

  Having a team of internal auditors ( recommended atleast two) is more beneficial to a company because the auditors are available at any time required and the audits can be planned for action at convenient times. Also, it will also help in carrying out more frequent checks in case a department has found with repeated non-compliances. Atleast two internal auditors are recommended from different departments so that they can carryout the audits of each other impartially.

 

Roles of Internal Auditor

 

As the name indicates, an internal auditor is expected to carryout planned audits within the company. An internal auditor is not recommended to audit his own department, hence the need for atleast two auditors preferably from different departments. Most often, an internal auditor conducts several audits and followups to make sure that all the non-conformances are addressed and closed. He is also responsible to review and confirm the effectivness of a corrective action taken. In case of repeated non-conformities, he is responsible to escalate the main concerns to the higher management.

About Internal Auditor Training

 

Internal auditor training is a full day course designed to equip the delegates with the skills and techniques of auditing various departments within a company. Internal auditor is not eligible to carryout third party audits unless he/she successfully completes the lead auditor training.
